      Beginner Piano Class - Youth

See the FAQs below for important information about these classes and the possibility of other class times.     FREE Introductory Class is being offered on June 11! * Beginner Piano/Keyboard Class for children ages 6 - 16 * Eight 1-hour classes on Tuesdays at 6:00pm beginning June 18 and ending August 6.  Instructors: Brandon Rhody and Andrey Lubimtsev This is hands-on learning from the start as everyone has their own keyboard to use in class.  For students who complete book 1 (12-14 weeks total), they will have a basic understanding of the keyboard and basic music theory.  Young students will be able to play simple melodies one hand at a time; older children will be able to play a simple melody with basic accompaniment. Some of the topics covered include: · Music Theory · Notation · Melody/Chords · Hand Position · Posture Group classes for beginners offer a number of advantages over starting with private lessons. Besides the cost savings, the group environment offers more time to learn with an instructor. Playing along with others is also a benefit to learning, and it’s more fun! This class is organized as a fundraiser to benefit the Keystone Musical Arts Center! FAQs Is there a discount for additional family members?    Yes!  Additional family members (siblings) are half price. What book are you using and how much does it cost?    We use the Bastian Piano Method.  The cost is $7 and you can pay the teacher directly on the first day of class. Is there a chance that we will be asked to switch to a different class time?    We sometimes will add another class before or after this one depending on how many people sign-up or if we need to separate the class into different age groups.  Let us know if you want to do the class but the time doesn't work for you. Can younger students participate?    Maybe.  Younger (age 5) may be able to take the class but a brief evaluation is needed first.  Please contact us for more information about this. Do I need to have a piano at home?    You will need to have access to a piano or at least an inexpensive keyboard so that you can practice between classes.  Keyboards will be provided during the classes, so the only thing you will need to bring with you each week is the book. If you don't have access to a piano or keyboard but would still like to take the class, contact us to see what options might be available.  We do have a couple keyboards available that can be borrowed at no charge. I'm interested but the time doesn't work for me, or I’m in a different age group.    Please let us know!  We will have new classes starting after this one and the details for these will be determined in part by the interest shown ahead of time.  We'd like to put together an adult class sometime soon! Is there a way to "try it before you buy it"?    Yes! Click Free Intro Piano Class for more info and to register. Where can I contact the organizer with any questions?    We'd love to hear from you!  Direct emails to or call us at 717-737-KMAC (5622).
